Saudi Arabia Wraps Up Dynamic Appearance in Seoul International Book Fair 2025
Saudi Arabia wrapped up an energetic and productive presence at the Seoul International Book Fair 2025, organized from June 18 to 22 at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in the capital of South Korea. Headed by the Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission, the Saudi participation involved representatives from among the Kingdom's leading cultural institutions.
Throughout five days, the Saudi pavilion received a lot of attention from the public and professionals in the publishing, translation, and literary sectors. It was not only a booth—it was an experience. Guests toured a well-thought-out program of dialogue sessions, professional networking, and a presentation of translated Saudi literature that provided a new outlook on the Kingdom's upsurge literary movement.
Dr. Abdullatif AlWasel, CEO of the Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission, pointed to the Kingdom's involvement as a demonstration of its cultural progress. "This is not just about promoting books," he stated. "It's about highlighting the shift in our cultural industry and getting Saudi literature into constructive conversation with the world—particularly in Asia."
With Saudi Vision 2030 spurring a wider commitment to cultural exchange and innovation, the Commission leveraged the platform to increase global connections. Their aim? Empowering local publishers, growing translation efforts, and building new partnerships that make Saudi Arabia a global cultural hub.
The pavilion had a strong roster of institutions, including King Abdulaziz Public Library, King Fahd National Library, the Saudi Publishing Association, the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, and some universities and publishing companies—all of whom showed richness and diversity in Saudi Arabia's literary scene.
This year's attendance also was built upon momentum in 2024, when Saudi Arabia was the Guest of Honour at the fair. The earlier showcase had made a lasting impact through panel discussions, art exhibitions, and interactive activities that enthralled Korean viewers.
As the 2025 chapter is closed, Saudi Arabia's attendance in Seoul reflects its increasing cultural influence and solidifies its intention to mold an exciting, diverse, and globally connected literary future.
